On family and business… getting to know me better.

This post is for you to get to know me on a more personal level. I’m going to share with you the things my heart desires, my goals and plans both professional and personal. I’m not much of a writer but I feel it’s important to share anyway.

Let me start by saying how blessed I am. My life is wonderful and I can honestly say I LOVE my life!  It’s not always easy but  I serve a God that loves me with never stopping, never giving up, un breaking, always and forever love (yes,I totally stole that description from my daughters bible). And no, I’m not going to preach to you (only one more sentence and I won’t mention God in this post again) I just want  to tell you a little more about myself.  I desire to love God with ALL my heart and  be the best wife and mother to my two beautiful little girls that I can be.

My girls (Gracie, who is 4 in May and Halle who is 2 in July) are growing quickly and are desperate for a brother. Especially Gracie! After attending a conference in October last year we deiced that we wanted to become foster parents (with the intent to adopt a little boy and provide short term emergency care for infants). Adoption was always something my husband and I planned on doing, I just thought it would be  from somewhere exotic like Asia of Africa. One of speakers at the conference talked about the number of legally free kids that are waiting to be adopted in Washington state – SIXTEEN HUNDRED kids! That is a CRAZY number. I no longer care about how cool it sounds to adopt from another country I just care about the little boy that is somewhere in the state I already live in. I’m pleased to say all of our classes, tests, certificates and paper work are all completed and we are waiting for our first of three home studies. We should be a fully licensed foster home by May. It’s kind of a big deal, we’re super excited, nervous, a little scared and can’t wait!

Business has been a little slower, I haven’t had a shoot every weekend but my family life has been so busy  I’ve been okay with it. Now that life has settled down a little I’m ready to get back into the swing of things! I’ve have a few shoots booked for the  next month, have been meeting with clients and booking summer weddings. I still have room for more bookings, if you know of anyone interested in a portrait or wedding photographer please send them my way!

I’m always trying to learn more about photography, challenge myself and be more creative. So I thought I’d share with you some photos of my girls. It was finally a sunny day and the light streaming into my bedroom was too good  not to shoot…

Her eyes look almost green in this photo but when the light hits them in the photo below you can see the beautiful pale blue they really are.

A clean and happy little Halle enjoying the sunshine!

Thank for taking the time to read this post, I hope you have a relaxed, peaceful kind of day :)

  1. Wow _ I loved your post. How exciting about the adoption possibility. You are in our prayers. Glad you love your life. I love mine too. Your photos are outstanding. Only wish you lived closer so we could have your wonderful presence and photography.

  2. Your pictures of the girls are stunning! Great post and how exciting to become foster parents. There is such a need for good foster homes. My granddaughter has some school friend that grew up “in the system” and their foster home experiences have not all been good so you would be addressing an important mission.
